Florida Gators football Top 5: Games from the 2006 Championship season
By TJ Ostrander
Florida 10-1 @ Florida State 6-5
Another battle against another arch-rival for the Florida Gators, they defeated Florida State in a tight one-score game. This game just goes to show that rivalry games are always unpredictable, FSU came in at just 6-5 and gave the Gators all they could handle.
It was another good day for the stingy Florida defense, they allowed just 46 yards on the ground, and just 235 total yards. Florida freshman Percy Harvin didnt catch a single pass on the day, but burned Florida State on the ground with 86 yards and a touchdown.
Senior quarterback Chris Leak had a proficient game-throwing for 283 yards and two scores- and capped off the regular season with a 4th quarter touchdown pass to Dallas Baker “the touchdown maker”.
The Gator defense was able to make 21 points hold up, as they intercepted Florida State 3 times in the victory. The Gators moved to 11-1 heading into the SEC championship game.
