Florida football: Ranking the 12 most important Gators in 2021
By Jeremy Klump
The Florida Gators had an interesting 2020 season. Florida football fans experienced the 8-4 roller coaster ride all year, as the Gators would look great one week and then lose to a team like LSU the following week.
COVID-19 complicated a lot, but Florida’s defense was not good last season. The Gators replaced their secondary coaches, but it seems the new secondary coaches are an upgrade already.
The Gators’ season ended with two straight losses.
First, they lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game 52-46. The final score made the game seem closer than it was, as the Crimson Tide were in control for most of the game.
The second was Florida’s disaster Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma.
Florida football fans will want to forget that game forever.
The Gators got destroyed by Oklahoma 55-20, with the offense and defense looking terrible. It was not a great game to end on and head into the offseason, but luckily for the Gators fans, Florida will be back and ready to go in 2021.
On paper, the Gators have a very underrated and extremely talented football team. Losing the No. 1 player in the 2021 NFL Draft, tight end Kyle Pitts will hurt. And so will losing first-round wide receiver Kadarius Toney and Heisman finalist quarterback Kyle Trask.
However, the Gators have tons of up-and-coming talent ready to take the next step. If the Gators are going to take the next step, they will need some players to progress and reach their full potential, but luckily Florida is the best school in the country for that!
As we get closer to the 2021 season, here are the 12 most important Gators. If the Gators are going to make the College Football Playoff and win a National Championship, these 12 Gators will likely be the main reason why.
