The Florida Gators and head coach Dan Mullen are building something special in Gainesville. Florida football fans should appreciate what Mullen and his staff have accomplished so far and for the way their favorite program is trending.

And the Gators are trending upward, at a rapid pace.

Mullen’s incredible work may not have resulted in a National Championship, but his Gators are on the right path.

The Gators rewarded Mullen with a contract extension, which was a no-brainer for Florida and was well-earned by Mullen.

The biggest knock on Mullen is his ability to recruit and land elite, five-star players. However, the Gators have been impressive so far with their 2022 recruiting class, and their need for speed should excite the fans. Even though Mullen hasn’t been the best recruiter, he has been touted as one of the best coaches in the nation at developing his players. Even his current players understand how great Mullen and Florida are at getting the most out of their players.

Florida football fans will love defensive tackle Gervon Dexter’s tweet.

Ironically, Mullen’s highest-graded recruit he’s ever landed, defensive tackle Gervon Dexter, tweeted a must-read tweet for all Gators fans and recruits. Dexter was the 12th overall player in the 2020 recruiting class according to 247 Sports, and Dexter will be an impact player for the Gators this season.

Dexter tweeted:

If there was one tweet to signify why Mullen is a better head coach than Georgia’s Kirby Smart, it is this one. All offseason, I have been raving about Mullen’s ability to develop talent, and I think the Gators have done a great job at using it as a recruiting pitch.

Many schools will sell you on how great they are, but once you get there, you never reach your full potential. At Florida, the Gators have shown how impressive they are at taking three and four-star players, progressing them, and getting them drafted.

A player like Dexter, who was a five-star recruit, speaking about how the stars do not matter once you get to college and raving about his development at Florida is meaningful. Not only is it a good sign of things to come for the Gators, but when you have potential recruits reading words like that, it is enormous.

It goes a long way for the young players seeing that even the highest-rated recruit is speaking highly about being developed and his potential being maximized. So, it may just be a tweet, but this is a significant statement from one of the biggest names on the Florida roster.
