After opting out of the 2020 NFL season due to COVID-19, former Florida Gators running back Jordan Scarlett is back and ready to go.

Scarlett, who signed a futures contract with the Miami Dolphins, had 1,846 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns as a Gator.

He averaged 5.4 yards per carry as well and will always be remembered at Florida for running hard and making plays.

Scarlett was drafted in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.

In Carolina, Scarlett never got an opportunity to show what he could do in the regular season, as he was playing behind All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.

Jordan Scarlett has a great opportunity with the Miami Dolphins.

Scarlett has found his home in Miami after being waived by the Panthers and bouncing around a bit. And by home, I mean he is literally home.

Scarlett went to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This is likely Scarlett‘s last chance to secure a spot in the NFL, and according to Scarlett’s trainer Nick Hicks from PER4ORM, the trainer he’s been working with since he was heading into his freshman year of high school, Scarlett is, “in the best shape of his life.”

Hicks also said that, “Scarlett knows this is his last opportunity, so he is going to leave it all out there.”

Miami is a perfect spot for any running back to try and revive their career, mainly because head coach Brian Flores believes in the “Patriot Way” running back by committee approach, so every running back on the roster will have a role.

Even though running back Myles Gaskin will be Miami’s starting running back in 2021, the second, third, and even fourth spots still have a lot of value for the Dolphins.

Scarlett has experience playing special teams, too, so that will help his chances to make the roster. And according to Hicks, “Scarlett will do whatever he has to do to make the team and help the team win.”

That’s good news for Dolphins fans and for Scarlett. Flores and the Dolphins love hard-working players that will do their job and whatever else is asked of them.

Scarlett may not get mentioned much, but the former Gator is putting in the work and doing everything he can to show Miami he can help them win football games.

I believe that Scarlett has found the right situation for his NFL career, and he will ultimately make the Miami Dolphins roster this season.
