The Florida football fans have been waiting for the Florida Gators to find their groove and get into the college football playoffs. Florida has been a solid team the last few years, but they haven’t been able to go from good to great.

Head coach Dan Mullen has done a fantastic job with his football team and making the scheme fit his players. In 2020, not many people thought quarterback Kyle Trask would be in the Heisman race, but with Mullen’s elite coaching, Trask was a star.

Trask led Florida to one of the top offenses in 2020, but it was their defense that let them down last season. Usually, it is the other way around, with the defense being elite and the offense needing to accomplish more, so it was frustrating for fans to see the defense fall off. Florida fans may be worried about the defense again this season, but I do not think they could put out as bad of a performance as they did last year, so relax if you are worried.

Florida has a very favorable schedule in 2021, mainly because they play Alabama right away. The Gators are in a prime position to finally knock off the Crimson Tide, especially with Alabama’s offense being an unknown with true sophomore quarterback Bryce Young taking over. It has been a very long time since Florida beat Alabama, but 2021 could be the year the Gators get a win against Nick Saban.

Florida did lose some studs on offense, starting with the No. 4 pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, tight end Kyle Pitts. Pitts is joined by the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Kadarius Toney, as the Gators skill position players to go in the first round.

However, even with the losses on offense, Florida fans should start getting excited about 2021. As we get closer to the Week 1 kick-off, here are three reasons Gators fans should be excited about this season.
