Florida Gators Basketball: 4 reasons Florida will reach the Final Four
By Ryan Kately
The Florida Gators Basketball team has had its many ups and downs this year, finishing the season at 14-9 (9-7) after falling to Tennessee in the SEC Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon. The Gators then had to wait until Sunday to see where they would fall into the bracket and who their opponent would be.
The selection committee ultimately put Florida as the 7th seed in the South Region. A spot that I deemed as pretty fair as they have dropped 3 of their last 4 games.
Their opponent will be the 10th seeded Hokies from Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech comes into the tournament with a record of 15-6. However, they played more out of conference games, which inflates their record quite a bit. Looking at Virginia Tech’s schedule, I would say they had even more of an up-and-down year than Florida did as they beat Virginia by double digits but lost to Syracuse by 18 points.
If Florida wants to make a run at the Final Four, it will first have to pass its first test in Virginia Tech on Friday, March 19, and if they can, there is a real chance the Gators can make a deep run into March. Here are four reasons why the Gators will make the Final Four.
