Florida Gators: Is Kyle Pitts a potential Hall of Fame player?
By Jeremy Klump
It is obvious that I am the conductor of the Kyle Pitts Train. The former Florida Gators’ tight end and 2020 John Mackey award winner is arguably the most talented Gator I have ever seen.
Just how good do I think Pitts is? Well, I believe Pitts is the No. 1 player in the 2021 NFL Draft. I also think that Pitts is the greatest tight end prospect to ever enter the NFL. There has never been a weapon like Pitts to ever enter the draft. Pitts is like a player you would create in a video game, making him a 6-6, 245-pound tight end, but play like an elite wide receiver. Pitts is fast; he is quick. Pitts can block; he can run routes. Pitts can truly do it all.
Many people have attacked my statement regarding Pitts being the No. 1 player in the draft. Some have used the argument of Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence or Oregon’s offensive tackle Penei Sewell. While both Lawrence and Sewell are elite prospects, there are players at their position each year. There has never been a prospect like Pitts, so I feel he is a cant miss type of player.
Another big knock on my Kyle Pitts Train is that I am a Florida fan, and I am just biased. Thankfully, well-respected NFL Draft analyst and former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah shared an interesting statement regarding Pitts. Jeremiah tweeted the following, “If you were going to pick the player most likely to have HOF career in this draft class, I think the overwhelming choice around the NFL would be Kyle Pitts.”
Also, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, Jeremiah spoke to the media today via zoom and added, “I think you can make a strong case that he’s the best player in the draft. … The defense can’t be right against him no matter what you do.”
For all of the people who are saying I am a Florida homer, I guess an “overwhelming” amount of NFL executives and scouts are Florida fans as well…
Or, maybe I am not crazy for what I see when I watch Pitts’ film. Perhaps, he truly is the best player in the 2021 NFL Draft. Pitts will need to stay healthy, and hopefully, he gets drafted to the right team.
And what I mean by that is a team that will use him correctly and makes him the focal point of the offense. If he can stay healthy, gets on the right team, and has a competent quarterback in the NFL, Jeremiah’s statement isn’t too crazy. Pitts really does have Hall of Fame potential, and it would not surprise me one bit to see him reach it.
So, is Kyle Pitts a potential Hall of Fame player? Yes.
