One Florida football player will be trading one orange and blue uniform for another as he signs with the Denver Broncos after being drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft.

On Saturday Florida football saw another top player drafted into the NFL.

Tyrie Cleveland with the 257th pick landed with the Denver Broncos. Cleveland has been a big part of Florida football for the last four years and it is great to see another great Gator to land in the NFL.

He joins Van Jefferson and Freddie Swain as Florida football wide receivers drafted this season.

Tyrie’s Gator Career

In his time with the Gators Cleveland has been apart of many big games. For his carer in Gainsville, he had 79 catches for 1,271 yards and eight touchdowns.

Some of those TD’s were of the heart-pounding type. Who can forget the pass he caught against Tenessee in 2017 to win the game. That catch alone put Cleveland in a Gator folklore.

After, Cleveland had this say about that wild play;

"“The thing I like about the play is the crowd when they made the noise and it goes crazy. That’s why I like looking at the play,” Cleveland said. “Just to see my teammates all running on the field and going crazy, and just to see the fans just going crazy. The atmosphere was very crazy. I just feel like that play was a dream come true.”"

After coming into Florida football as the nation’s number-two ranked receiver he got injured and it sort of set him back a bit.

But once he got going there was no stopping him. He is a dynamic receiver that can give DB’s headaches if they go one on one. He can cut on a dime which makes him a threat in the return game as well. He had a great career as a gator and will do the same in Denver.

Tyrie and the Broncos

The Broncos had a big draft when it comes to drafting receivers. They also possess a young group on the roster already. It will be a fight to make this Broncos team but there is no doubt he could fit right in. Drew Lock is the QB and he likes to throw the ball. With Cleveland’s speed, he can be a very utilized weapon in that offense.

Another pressing need that may help Tryrie is the Broncos’ need for a return man. They have been in search of a guy that can be depended on in that role.

For Florida football, Tyrie had many great returns and proved he can handle that job. In the NFL it is about how much you can do for a team and Cleveland gives the Broncos options.

Elway had a plan for this draft and it entailed giving Lock all the weapons he could get. I do not think it was an accident or a whatever pick for the Broncos. I believe Elway saw the value of Cleveland and knows what he can do for the Broncos orange and blue.

As for Tyrie, he sees it like this;

"“I bring a lot athleticism. I’m a guy that’s going to come in, try to win games for the organization and bring this organization back to a Super Bowl. I’m ready to work. I’m ready to come in, work hard and compete. I’m ready to bring a Super Bowl back to Denver.”"

dark. Next. Jacksonville gets the goods with CJ Henderson

Another Gator goes to the NFL and we in Gator Nation wish him well. As a Broncos fan, I am more than hyped to get to watch him in the Broncos uni for many more years. Chomp Chomp.
