Home-and-Home

If nothing else, Florida could pack Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum because Lord knows USC hasn’t been able to.

I know we have Cal, Colorado and Arizona State from the Pac-12, but I think USC would be a big-time marquee matchup.

Plus, it would be great to show Trojan fans what real football swagger is.

These two teams had a home-and-home back in 1982-83 with Florida winning 9-8 in a nine-inning affair (get it, a baseball reference because the score was so low) and the two teams battling to a 19-19 tie the following year.

To me, that means there is some unfinished business between Florida football and the Men of Troy.

After Pete Carroll moved on (smartly because a scandal was on the horizon), the Trojans fared so-so under Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron, Steve Sarkisian and Clay Helton — twice.

Scandal aside, Southern Cal wins and gets to bowl games — missing just three years in the last 20 (two of those were because of NCAA probation).

They have been nationally ranked at some point in each of the last 18 seasons — holding the No. 1 spot on at least six different occasions in those 18 seasons.

It’s a matchup that won’t likely ever happen, but it would be fun to watch, nonetheless.

So, there you have the five non-conference opponents we’d like to see.

There are many others to consider, but we wanted to have opponents that would produce a competitive game that would bring national attention to both programs involved.
