Perhaps the biggest surprise for Florida basketball this season was sophomore Keyontae Johnson.

He provided a very good big balance to Blackshear inside.

Starting all 31 games, Johnson wound up leading the Gators in scoring — averaging 14 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Really, the only negative for Johnson — like the rest of Florida basketball — is consistency. When he was on, Johnson was virtually unstoppable. However, when he was off, there was no mistaking the team was different.

I’d like to see Johnson be more aggressive on the boards because I can see him averaging double-digit rebounds next season. He’s athletic and quick, which makes him dangerous inside.

He also has a great first step with the ball, allowing him to dominate position in the paint.

Johnson has the potential to be an All-SEC first-teamer next season as a power forward. He’s not as tall as some other bigs in the SEC, but his quickness should more than make up for that.
