We all know how Florida football fared during the 2020 National Signing Day. But, that certainly doesn’t mean Florida is done with trying to get players.

Florida football head coach Dan Mullen pulled in an impressive haul for the Class of 2020.

The Gators pulled the No. 8 recruiting class of the year and include five-star defensive tackle Gervon Dexter and five-star linebacker Derek Wingo.

Florida also brought in former five-star wide receiver Justin Shorter from Penn State and former five-star running back Lorenzo Lingard from Miami in the transfer portal. Former five-star outside linebacker Brenton Cox transferred from Georgia last season and will be eligible this season.

But apparently the Gators aren’t done yet.

Five-star running back Zachary Evans has scheduled a visit to Gainesville, according to Blake Alderman of 247Sports.

Evans, who plays for North Shore High School in Houston, Texas, is scheduled to be on campus to visit Florida football on the weekend of March 20.

The running back had originally committed to SEC East rival Georgia, but the Bulldogs decided not to submit his national letter of intent, cutting ties with Georgia.

Pundits have placed Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Tennessee in the running for the No. 2-rated running back in the Class of 2020 — he is rated the No. 16 overall recruit in the class.

Florida football is losing Lamical Perine to graduation, but are returning Malik Davis and Dameon Pierce who bring experience from last season.

Lingard is a great addition but it likely he won’t be eligible this year because of transfer rules. That leaves the door open for a running back like Evans to come in and make an immediate impact on the Gators’ offense.

According to 247Sports, Evans has been in close contact with Florida football running backs coach Greg Knox along with Florida’s recruiter for Texas, Brian Johnson. He also has a previous relationship with new assistant coach Tim Brewster.

Evans has visited LSU back in October and Texas A&M in November, but both options are cool at best. There has been no word as to how high he is on any of the schools, meaning Florida football has the potential to reel in a big catch.

It likely won’t be long after his visit to Gainesville that Evans makes his decision.
