Florida football: Former Gators set to meet in Super Bowl
A pair of former Florida football players will meet today in the biggest game of the season — Super Bowl LIV in Miami.
Both Marcell Harris and Demcarus Robinson came to Florida football in 2013.
Now, they will meet in perhaps the biggest game of their careers — Super Bowl LIV in Miami.
Harris, a defensive back with the San Francisco 49ers and Robinson, a wide receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs, are part of a tradition of former Florida football players playing in the Super Bowl.
There have been Gators in the Super Bowl in each of the last 18 seasons and one of them will be on the 22nd winning team to feature a former member of the Florida football team.
Against the Titans in the AFC Championship game, Robinson has a pair of receptions for 31 yards — including a 24-yard reception.

For the season, Robinson had 32 catches for 449 yards and four touchdowns with the Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
He scored his last touchdown in a 31-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 29.
Robinson played three years with Florida football, from 2013-2015. In that time, he amassed 1,353 yards receiving and nine touchdowns on 105 catches.
All told, Robinson picked up 1,359 yards from scrimmage in his three seasons in Gainesville.
His best season with Florida football was in 2014 when he had 810 yards receiving and seven touchdowns on 53 receptions.
Harris was part of a strong 49er defense and had 23 solo tackles in 2019. He added three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery this season as a safety. He converted that one fumble recovery into a touchdown.
He was picked in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the 49ers.
In his three seasons with Florida football, Harris had his best season in 2016. That year, he racked up 73 total tackles — 43 of them solo. He also had four tackles for loss and a sack.
In the defensive backfield, Harris also picked up two interceptions and a pass deflection in his final year with the Gators.
All told, he had 102 tackles in three seasons — 59 of them solo.
Super Bowl LIV will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time at Hard Rock Stadium — the same place Florida football defeated Virginia in the 2019 Capital One Orange Bowl — and will be broadcast on Fox.
