Florida football: FSU’s road to The Swamp through tweets
By Nick Knudsen
Florida football takes the field against arch-rival Florida State on Saturday. Let’s relive how FSU arrived at this moment through tweets.
So, we have stuffed ourselves with Thanksgiving goodness, watched some of the pro game, but now it’s time to really hone in on Florida football.
No. 8 Florida has a big match-up Saturday night when they take on in-state rival Florida State at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
We thought now was a great time to relive Florida State’s journey to this game through that great social media avenue: Twitter.
Without further ado:
Game 1: L 36-31 vs Boise State
Hurricane Dorian pushed this game from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, but the last-minute shift did not benefit the Noles.
Game 2: W 45-44 OT vs UL-Monroe
Despite FSU RB Cam Akers 193 yards on the ground, ULM kept pace with the Noles throughout the day, but a missed extra point in overtime cost the Warhawks the game.
Game 3: L 31-24 at Virginia
This game went down to the last drive, but FSU chose to go with a direct snap to Akers from the five-yard line.
After rushing to get the snap off, Akers took off toward the right edge and was brought down a little more than a yard over the line of scrimmage.
The complete chaos and poor final play call to end the game did not reflect well on head coach Willie Taggart and led to increased calls for a coaching change.

Leading up to the Louisville game:
Game 4: W 35-24 vs Louisville
The Noles got off to a fast 21-0 start before giving up 24 consecutive points to an improved Louisville team, but Florida State managed to recover and close out the Cards in what may arguably be FSU’s strongest win of the season.
Game 5: W 31-13 vs North Carolina State
The Seminoles extended their season-high win-streak to two with a big win over the lowly Wolfpack.
Game 6: L 45-14 at Clemson
Clemson took a 28-0 lead into the locker room. FSU QB James Blackmon finished the day 9/23 for 66 yards, 0 touchdowns, and two interceptions and QB Alex Hornibrook only managed 84 yards passing.
In what was the annual ACC clash of the year for several seasons in the mid-2010s, the gulf between these two programs at the end of the decade was on full display.
Game 7: L 22-20 at Wake Forest
Another close loss. Another scrambled mess in the final plays.

Game 8: W 35-17 vs Syracuse
The Seminoles shut down the Syracuse passing game. They may have won, but Ingram Smith, co-host of the Nolecast was not happy:
Game 9: L 27-10 vs Miami (FL)
A Miami team that just lost to FIU went into Tallahassee and dominated this game. The Canes took a 17-3 lead into the half before closing out the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run. A no show in a rivalry game was the final straw and Willie Taggart was fired shortly after losing to the Canes.
Game 10: W 38-31 at Boston College
Nice win on the road under repeat interim head coach, Odell Haggins. FSU continues to prove that it can hang with the middle of the ACC — for whatever that’s worth. Not like the SEC, is it Florida football?
Game 11: W 49-12 vs Alabama State
As ugly as this season has been in Tallahassee, credit to the players and the coaching staff for reaching bowl eligibility and matching the season-high win-streak of two! We never had to say that this year, did we Florida football?

The 18-point favorite Florida Gators will host the team out west in The Swamp on Saturday at 7:30 PM ET on the SEC Network.
