I kind of walked away from this before because Florida football was entering an interesting stretch of football. Well, now I have a little time on my hands.

Week 11 was an interesting week in the Southeastern Conference as Florida football came up big, as did Ole Miss.

But, there were some other head-scratchers this week that left me thinking “huh?”

The only game I kept an eye on, besides flashing to LSU-Alabama, was Georgia-Missouri.

That lasted for about a half.

Well, here’s Week 11’s games in the SEC, in one sentence (or more):

No. 11 Florida 54, Vanderbilt 0

In one sentence: Someone had to be punished for the loss to Georgia, and it might as well have been Vanderbilt.

A little more: It’s hard to see if this was a game proving Florida football was good or that Vanderbilt football was just that bad. The Gators had a lot of high points — mostly in the second half — but have to get over starting games slowly, especially with Missouri looming.

Western Kentucky 45, Arkansas 19

In one sentence: Just when you thought Vanderbilt was bad, Arkansas goes and steps it up a notch.

A little more: The home loss to the Hilltoppers proved to be the undoing of head coach Chad Morris as he was mercifully dismissed as the Razorbacks’ head coach Sunday. Now, it’s up to former Arkansas quarterback Barry Lunney Jr. to salvage what’s left of the season.

TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA – NOVEMBER 09: Joe Burrow #9 of the LSU Tigers celebrates with head coach Ed Orgeron after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide 46-41 at Bryant-Denny Stadium on November 09, 2019 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

No. 1 LSU 46, No. 4 Alabama 31

In one sentence: That Florida football loss to LSU doesn’t sting so bad now, does it?

A little more: At halftime, many were wondering if Nick Saban decided to just mail this in. Then, the second half rolled around, Alabama found its offense and a way to stop Joe Burrow and LSU. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as LSU is ever-closer to the College Football Playoff with the win. With the loss, it’s hard to imagine the Crimson Tide in the playoff picture anymore.

Ole Miss 41, New Mexico State 3

In one sentence: Why do the Aggies even try at this point?

A little more: New Mexico State decided to cannibalize itself by scheduling Washington State, Alabama, San Diego State and Ole Miss, in the same season. I get bolstering the schedule, but this just seems like unnecessary abuse.

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – NOVEMBER 09: Darrynton Evans #3 of the Appalachian State Mountaineers runs with the ball in the first quarter during their game against the South Carolina Gamecocks at Williams-Brice Stadium on November 09, 2019 in Columbia, South Carolina. Appalachian State 20, South Carolina 15

In one sentence: Don’t laugh as the Mountaineers are nationally ranked and pretty good.

A little more: That doesn’t mean Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks shouldn’t hang their heads a bit because, well, it’s Appalachian State. Oh, and you lost to them at home. But, you can’t take too much away from the Mountaineers as they also dispatched of North Carolina, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina, making them the second-best team in the Carolinas this year.

No. 6 Georgia 27, Missouri 0

In one sentence: I really expected this to be more of a game than it was.

A little more: The fact is that Missouri is awful on the road. They can’t score on the road — 21 points in their last three road games (all losses) — let alone win. The win pretty much locked up the SEC East Division for the Bulldogs — although there is a little hope for Florida football as the Bulldogs still have to travel to Auburn and will get Texas A&M this season.
