Florida football: Gator underclassmen with the most impact
4. Marco Wilson, So.
Florida football cornerback Marco Wilson is typically opposite of CJ Henderson in lining up.
This season, the sophomore has taken full advantage of being on the side of the field typically targeted by opposing offenses.
As a way to get away from Henderson, opposing teams are throwing in Wilson’s direction and his two interceptions and one pass breakup are indicators that neither side of the field is safe.
For a cornerback — a position that usually doesn’t like to tackle much — Wilson has no issue getting into the mix. He has 19 tackles on the season which is just outside the top 10 for the team.
His quickness and agility make him very dangerous in the secondary and his ability to bump off the line of scrimmage has thrown off the timing of many an opposing quarterback.
I look for Wilson to continue his strong play; especially as offensive coordinators consider him the lesser of two evils to target with the pass.
And, considering Henderson is only a junior, this tandem, coupled with Kaiir Elam will be even more dangerous next season.
