Florida football: Gator underclassmen with the most impact
2. Kyle Pitts, So.
Sophomore tight end Kyle Pitts has been a huge bright spot for the offense this season.
Since Trask took over as quarterback, Pitts’ involvement in the game plan has seemed to increase each game.
After Saturday’s win at South Carolina, Pitts is now the leading wide receiver for the Gators — 391 yards on 35 catches and averaging 48.88 yards per game. He also tied with Freddie Swain for the lead in touchdown receptions (4).
At 6-foot-6, Pitts is a huge offensive advantage for the Gators. He provides a big target for Trask and is extremely difficult for opposing secondaries to defend. Even against the national defensive player of the week in South Carolina’s Israel Mukuamu, Pitts had 29 yards receiving and a touchdown in the win.
He has become one of the nation’s leading tight ends and only appears to be getting better with each game.
