I can’t really say there was a whole lot surprising in SEC football during Week 6. A lot was really expected.

There was a glimmer of hope in Knoxville, but in typical SEC football fashion, hope is usually just that — a glimmer.

Elsewhere, Florida and Auburn provided the most excitement in an otherwise blah week in the Southeastern Conference.

Here, we’ll try to summarize every SEC football game in one sentence (and, I have to admit, I’ve been pretty good about keeping it to just one sentence).

LSU 42, Utah State 6

The one sentence: I mean, really, 344 yards passing from an LSU quarterback?

The last line: The Tigers’ offense is extremely dangerous and could be one of the best in the SEC.

Florida 24, Auburn 13

The one sentence: No one gave Florida any credit, not even Auburn.

The last line: Perhaps it is time for SEC football aficionados to give a little love to the Gators (I’m looking at you, Greg McElroy).

Missouri 42, Troy 10

The one sentence: The Tigers got 42 points in the first half and never really had to look back.

The last line: It was a great win, but the cost of an injury to quarterback Kelly Bryant may be a bridge too far for Mizzou. I mean, really, this was the worst cheap shot I’ve seen in a long time.

Georgia 43, Tennessee 14

The one sentence: Georgia scores 30 unanswered on the road after trailing 14-13.

The last line: Just how much time is Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer going to give Jeremy Pruitt before Fulmer just takes over the team himself?

Ole Miss 31, Vanderbilt 6

The one sentence: I don’t care who you’re a fan of in this game, it was plain ugly to watch.

The last line: It was impressive that Mississippi did get 413 yards rushing, but it was against the Commodores … so, there’s that.

Here’s a look ahead to next week in SEC football:

  • Mississippi State at Tennessee: This should be yawner, but you never know.
  • South Carolina at Georgia: It just gets better and better to watch Will Muschamp lose his stuff each week.
  • Alabama at Texas A&M: You really want A&M to win, but you know deep down it’s not likely going to happen.
  • UNLV at Vanderbilt: Well, this is just convenience scheduling for Vanderbilt, maybe.
  • Ole Miss at Missouri: Now, this could actually be a really good game to watch in Columbia.
  • Arkansas at Kentucky: This, on the other hand, is not likely to be a good game to watch anywhere.
  • Florida at LSU:

This is THE game to watch this week.
