Punt returns

Now, I know I have mentioned special teams in the past, but I’m having a hard time with just 4.6 yards per punt return.

So, I decided to be a little more specific this time around because I didn’t think it was fair to lump in kickers or even kick returns into the mix.

Freddie Swain has returned seven punts for just 32 yards — an average of 4.6 yards per punt.

I’m sure there’s some kind of metric that suggests punters are arcing the ball higher, giving opposing special teams’ units more time to close the gap on a returner or something like that.

But, not to be too hard on Swain, I guess I would like to see the punt return unit give Swain a little more room to run.
