Florida football: Casanova’s Corner — Love and Need, recruit style
In recent weeks we have seen an offensive line and a running game for Florida football that has been less than stellar. They are not bad but they are just not where we the fans or the coaching staff would like it to be.
Jahmyr Gibbs and Gerald Mincey can come in and help the Florida football running game next year.
In light of this, my Casanova’s Love Them and Need Them segment will showcase two recruits. One recruit will be a recruit that has committed to the Gators already, the Love them. The other will be a recruit that has not committed, the Need them.
Love Them: Gerald Mincey, OL
Mincey is a 6-foot-5, 324-pound lineman out of Fort Lauderdale.
He can make his presence known. He has a sort of mean streak when he plays and hates to be beat. This is just what we need to man the front line on the offense. If he has a weakness it may his lack of lateral quickness.
This is not to say he can’t handle the outside tackle spot, but he may be a better fit at an inside, say guard position, spot.
We need that guy with a tough attitude who will push people down the field, make a hole for the backs to get through. He has that and can be a force for the Gator for many years.

This is why he is our Love Them recruit, he has committed to the Gators and we love all that come into Gator Nation.
For the type of QB’s that will be coming to Gainsville, they will need this type of big athletic lineman that can get downhill and make some holes.
Need Them: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB
I love our running game, the runners at the running back position anyway.
They run hard with a lot of heart but for whatever reason, they have not been able to get any type of rhythm in the running game thus far.
But the next phase of the Florida football offense, head coach Dan Mullen will work on is the running game.
With guys like Mincey coming in to go with a quarterback like Anthony Richardson, (a 2020 commit) they will need the type of back Gibbs is.
He is a hit the hole quick type guy, give him the ball and a little crease and he will be through it.
With the RPO offense, it helps tremendously to make the decisions quick for a QB and hitting the hole fast for a running back. Gibbs gives you that and more. He can line up outside if need be and loves to catch out of the backfield, all these skills needed for the Mullen offense.
This is the type of guy that needs to be a Gator.
He has not committed yet to Florida so he is our “Need Them” recruit. He has been to the school and from all indications, he seems to like it. But he has the chance to choose just about anywhere to play. Tough choice for a young man.
I can tell you, Mr. Gibbs, we would love for you to join Gator Nation and be a part of a program that will compete for the big prize every year you are here.
To step in and help make the running game into a force.
So hit these guys up on social media and show them the love Florida football fans can give.
