After coming from behind for a 29-21 win at Kentucky, Florida football remained unchanged in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Everyone above Florida football won this weekend, so this week’s poll isn’t much of a surprise.

The Gators, fresh off a 29-21 come-from-behind win at Kentucky, remained at No. 9 in the latest AP Top 25 college football poll released Monday.

I can’t say I am disappointed in that, for the simple fact that Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Auburn — all teams above the Gators in the polls — won this weekend.

The Gators remained at No. 8 in the Amway Coaches Poll as well, likely for the same reason.

Biggest changes

There really weren’t that many changes this week in either poll.

Virginia did move up four spots to No. 21 in the AP poll after beating Florida State, 31-24 in the ACC opener for both teams (so, how hot is the seat under Willie Taggart right now?).

AP poll voters did move California, Arizona State and TCU into the poll while the coaches added Virginia (previously unranked in that poll), California, Arizona State and Kansas State into its poll.

The only other really big change is Boise State moved up two spots in both polls after smacking around Portland State, 45-10 on the Smurf Turf Saturday night.

The Poll Treatment

Usually, there is one team that gets jobbed by pollsters for some strange reason.

This week, Michigan gets the treatment.

The Wolverines were idle this week after escaping with a 24-21 win over Army two weeks ago.

The reward for not playing: AP voters dropped Michigan a spot to No. 11.

They were bumped for Utah. The Utes moved up from No. 11 to No. 10 after they beat Idaho State, 31-0.

Oregon beat Montana, 35-3 and was dropped a spot to No. 16 while Texas A&M defeated Lamar 62-3 and fell a spot to No. 17.

The big winner of those two teams dropping was Central Florida, who moved up to No. 15 after beating Stanford at home, 45-27.

Sleeper set

There is a group of teams just waiting for a lower-ranked team to lose. With the exception of Kansas State in the AP poll (and, what a win by the Wildcats at Mississippi State), the biggest sleeper knocking at the door this week is Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys have started the season 3-0, posting a 52-36 win at Oregon State, a 56-14 drubbing of McNeese and Saturday’s 40-21 win at Tulsa.

Now, Oklahoma State will have its chance to crack the Top 25 as they hit the road to take on No. 12 Texas in Austin. A win and the Cowboys are in — and set up a big game in Stillwater the following week against Kansas State. A loss and OSU will have to wait a while before it gets a chance.
