I am like most the rest of the world, I spend a lot of time on social media. I like to talk about Florida football with whoever will listen.

But one subject has taken more than it should, or has it?

Feleipe Franks has been the cause of many arguments lately regarding Florida football.

I am here to tell you Franks will be just fine.

The Battle

I mean let’s face it, being a quarterback at the University of Florida is far from an easy job. It is a position that just comes with criticism even for the best of them. But seems this time around it is breaking Gator Nation apart. Florida football chat rooms are blowing up.

"“I don’t post anything on here gator nation but all I’m saying is with everyone calling for Trask or Emory they both have had chances to beat Feleipe out for the QB competition Trask 2yrs in a row different coaching staffs if Emory was ready he would be playing automatically it’s a reason for all of this NO bite back please stay humble because I’m humble Gator Fam but we literally have to be better,” said Dorian H."

Wadd P added,” I’m tired of these fair-weather arm-chair QB’s who have no clue what it takes to play in the limelight of a major football program.”

But this warning by an admin was where you could tell things have gotten crazy. “I’m gonna say this one time and one last time only. If you bash a player or coach you’re being booted no more warnings. Ginger Franks, Felipe’s mom left our group Bc of you toxic fair weather fans. Not all of you. I’m getting sick of having to repeat myself.”

And remember these are Gator fan groups! For the most part over the years these are great places for like-minded people to talk about the Gators, together. Lately, you are either a Frank’s fan or you’re not. And if you are not then you’re not a real gator fan. Wait huh?

The Facts

The truth is Franks had a pretty good day. But don’t take my word, here is Mullen on Franks: “Like I said … there’s a lot of questioning all-around maybe on the last interception. But before that, he was 17 of 26 for 254 [yards], two touchdowns and a pick,” Mullen said. “That’s a pretty decent day for an opening game. I think he does get overlooked.” Something that is not new for Franks.

He has taken the brunt of the frustration of many fans over the past few years. Last season he threw for 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.

That is a great season for anyone, yet he was hammered for it all year long. By the way, his stats were better week one than the wonder boy from Virginia, Lawrence.

Fact is this was the first game of the year against a defense that is very good. he did his job and did it well. Were there mishaps? Sure, but they were made by many, not just him.

They have the luxury to have two weeks before the next game and to sharpen what we all seen against Miami. And they will.

Two things are certain in the end. Gator fans will be passionate and Feleipe Franks will be just fine.
