Louisiana at Mississippi State

When: 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at New Orleans (Mercedes-Benz Stadium)

How to watch: ESPNU with Mike Corey and Rene Ingoglia

Outlook: The Ragin’ Cajuns (love that nickname) were blown out last season at Starkville, 56-10, in route to a 7-7 overall record. Interest enough, Louisiana scored more points two weeks later at Alabama (14).

For Mississippi State, head coach Joe Moorhead enters his second season in Starkville after becoming just the second head coach in school history to win eight or more games his first season.

Moorhead has ended the competition at quarterback after naming Penn State graduate transfer Tommy Stevens the starter last week.

The Last Line: This shouldn’t be a contest, even on neutral turf. Mississippi State should have little problem with the Ragin’ Cajuns.
