Texas State at Texas A&M

When: 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at College Station, Texas (Kyle Field)

How to watch: SEC Network with Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cole Cubelic.

Outlook: Texas State welcomes a new coach in Jake Spavital. Spavital is the second-youngest coach (34) on the sidelines this year (only Kent State’s Sean Lewis is younger at 33). He served as the interim head coach at California in 2017, followed by a stint as the offensive coordinator at West Virginia the last two seasons.

The Bobcats do return 20 starters from a team that finished 3-9 and 1-7 in the Sun Belt Conference.

Texas A&M, on the other hand, have Jimbo Fisher entering his second year with the Aggies.

The Aggies are ranked No. 12 by the Associated Press and return dual-threat quarterback Kellen Mond. Mond threw for 3,107 yards and 24 touchdowns last season along with rushing for 474 yards and seven scores.

The Last Line: Texas A&M should handle business at home, but they have to be careful not to overlook the Bobcats as No. 1 Clemson looms the following week.
