Georgia Southern at LSU

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Tiger Stadium)

How to watch: ESPNU with Mike Couzens, Kirk Morrison and Ed Aschoff.

Outlook: Georgia Southern was impressive last season, finishing 10-3 overall — including wins at Coastal Carolina, at Georgia State and a win over Eastern Michigan in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl.

The Eagles have quarterback Shai Werts returning after winning the MVP of the Camellia Bowl. He was also the only quarterback in FBS to not throw an interception all season long — which is pretty impressive.

However, the Tigers are simply reloading after last season.

Senior quarterback Joe Burrow returns along with 6-foot-6 wide receiver Dee Anderson and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to work with. Otherwise, it is a pretty young offense for head coach Ed Orgeron.

The Last Line: While Georgia Southern may be impressive on paper, I don’t think that’s going to matter much in Baton Rouge.
