Miami and Florida have talented tight-ends, but Miami has a potential All American candidate who will be suiting up this season.

Miami returns an elite tight end. Sophomore TE Brevin Jordan burst onto the college football scene last year.  In his freshman year, Jordan was granted  All-ACC second-team honors at tight end after hauling in 32 passes for 287 yards and 4 touchdowns. If you didn’t know before, these numbers are very good for a tight end.

Miami will also play a former 4-star recruit in Will Mallory. Mallory caught 5 passes for 37 yards and a touchdown last season. Mallory is also a true sophomore.

Florida will be starting either sophomore Kyle Pitts and junior Lucas Krull on Saturday. Both are 6’6  and are matchup nightmares for opposing defenses. They are both able to high point the ball over cornerbacks and linebackers in coverage with ease.

However, neither have ever had over 100 yards receiving. Krull had 75 yards with 6 receptions last season and Pitts had 73 yards and a TD last season.

The highlight of the season for Krull was actually a trick pass play against LSU which set up a critical 1st and Goal. Be on the lookout for Florida to utilize Krull’s throwing ability in 2019. You can view it here:

Florida is also returning a bluechip tight end in redshirt sophomore Kemore Gamble. Although Gamble only had 58 yards receiving last year, he has had a good camp and Feleipe Franks recently called him “underrated”.

The duo of Jordan and Mallory is very formidable, there is no doubt about it. I have to give the edge to Miami regarding this particular position.

Advantage: Miami
