Florida football: Matching up the Gators and Canes on offense

Florida football begins its 2019 campaign against their in-state rival, the Miami Hurricanes on August 24th in Orlando, Florida. I’ll break down the matchups at for every position group and explain where Florida has the edge.

August 24 will be a big day for every Florida football fan.

College Gameday will be in Orlando, it’s College Football’s first game, and it’s against a Power 5 opponent. There is just something special about the opening game of the Gator season and the significance of this particular game is amplified because it’s against Miami.

The importance of beating Miami comes down to recruiting. In the upcoming months, Florida and Miami will have head to head recruiting battles for players that live in the state of Florida. The decisions of these players could very well come down to who wins this game due to the positive direction of the winning program. This is a must-win game for Florida and it’s only Week 0.

The Gators finished the 2018 season with four straight wins.

Two of those wins were blowout victories. The first came against arch-rival FSU where the Gators won 41-14. Florida finished off the season with a statement win in the Peach Bowl over then-ranked No. 7 Michigan defeating the Wolverines 41-15.
