Florida football: An in-depth look at the Gators’ offensive line
Right Tackle
Here will be another position the Gators will have extremely (and, I do mean extremely) limited experience as redshirt freshman Richard Gouraige could be the starter at right tackle.
Gouraige earned the redshirt after only appearing in two games — against Charleston Southern and Idaho. Other than that, he has no collegiate experience.
In high school, however, he did have 210 total tackles, 23.5 sacks and even a pair of blocked field goals. As a senior at Cambridge Christian in Tampa, Gouraige had 51 total tackles and six sacks.
Then again, this could be a real preseason battle as redshirt junior Jean DeLance could challenge for the right tackle position.
DeLance played as a reserve offensive lineman last season against Charleston Southern, Idaho, Florida State and Michigan after sitting out 2017 following transferring from the University of Texas.
DeLance had two games on the field at Texas — against Texas-El Paso and Iowa State.
He was also lauded as first-team All-Texas by USA Today and a top 100 recruit out of North Mesquite High School in Texas.
So, ultimately, it will come down to what Dan Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy see in terms of progress to determine who starts at this position.
