Florida softball: 3 Gators earn NFCA All-American honors
Since 2015, the Florida softball team has had at least three members named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America team.
Three Florida softball team members have been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Americans.
It marks the fourth straight year the Gators have had at least three members on the All-America team.
Outfielder Amanda Lorenz led the list as a unanimous selection. It is the fourth year the senior has been named to the list. She is only the second Florida Gator to be named to the list all four years – Hannah Rogers also earned the distinction from 2011-2014.
Lorenz was a first-team member from 2017 to 2019 and was a third-team selection her freshman year in 2016.
According to the NCFA, Lorenz is a top-10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and ranks sixth nationally in on-base percentage at .564. She is fourth in the nation in walks with 62 this season.
She will open the Women’s College World Series batting .419 with 13 doubles and 11 home runs.
Florida pitcher Kelly Barnhill was named to her third All-America team. This year, she was named to the second team after being a first-team selection in 2017 and 2018.
Barnhill was the 2019 SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player and was named to the All-SEC second team and the SEC All-Tournament team.
Junior designated player Kendyl Lindaman also earned her third selection as an All-American – this season as a member of the third team. This season, Lindaman was named to the All-SEC first team and to the NFCA All-Southeast Region first team.
