Florida Gators Football: Jalynn Williams Commits For 2018
The Florida Gators football team has secured a commitment from a promising athlete who has dreamt of the moment in which he’d play in Gainesville.
The process of recruiting ranges well beyond merely finding players who can help in the immediate future. For the Florida Gators and every other school, a major part of the process is signing players to develop and groom long-term.
That process continued on Friday, Jan. 13 when the Gators secured a commitment from three-star athlere Jalynn Williams for the 2018 season.
Jim McElwain came to Gainesville with the promise of revitalizing what’s been one of the worst offensive units in the country. That vision hasn’t come to fruition quite yet, but recent developments in recruiting have been promising.
In a post to his official Twitter account, Williams announced that he has committed to his dream school: the University of Florida.

That’s wonderful news for McElwain and the future of the Gators football program.
Williams is listed as a three-star recruit on 247Sports and Rivals. He received scholarship offers from the Kentucky Wildcats, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Ohio State Buckeyes, but ultimately chose to play for Florida.
Bowling Green and Georgia Southern also made plays for Williams, but the Saint Petersburg, Florida native chose the Gators.
Chances are, Williams will play wide receiver.
Coach Mac and the Gators have done an excellent job of improving the personnel at the wide receiver position. That includes the acquisition of the likes of Antonio Callaway, Tyrie Cleveland, and Daquon Green.
Florida offered Williams a scholarship in June of 2016, which he publicly stated in a tweet that foreshadowed his decision. For those who missed it:
Williams will now have a chance to live out his dream by playing for Florida at The Swamp in 2018.
