Nussmeier is one of the most prolific passers in NCAA history

It’s no coincidence why Doug Nussmeier was only the fourth quarterback taken in the 1994 Draft after what he did in his final year at Idaho.

Nussmeier completed 60 percent of passes during his senior year in 1993, while also compiling a QB rating of 172.2 and throwing for 33 touchdown passes.

The Gators OC was no slouch as a running QB either; he is only one of five NCAA quarterbacks to ever throw for at least 10,000 yards and rush for 1,000.

His Vandals career ranks among the best ever; he still holds school records in touchdown passes (91), passing efficiency (175.2), completion percentage (.609) and total offense (12,054 yards).

Nussmeier won the 1993 Walter Payton Award, an honor presented to the year’s best NCAA Division I-AA player.
