UF Career: Bust due to injuries, rebounded elsewhere

Matt Patchan came into Florida on a bit of the lighter side for an offensive lineman, especially since he stood at 6’7.

Gradually his body suffered for that lack of strength through a combination of bad luck and weird circumstance.

He suffered a gunshot wound in his left shoulder at the end of his freshman year, he hurt his left knee in a freak scooter accident, suffered a torn pectoral muscle and broke his right wrist during his time with the Gators.

Patchan would only start eight games as a result of his injuries before he transferred to Boston College for his sixth and final college season.

It was there that Patchan remained healthy enough to start 13 games and earn a spot on the second-team All-ACC while also helping RB Andre Williams become the 16th back in FBS history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.

Patchan went undrafted in 2014 NFL Draft but he signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers soon after.
