No. 3 Eric Kresser (1992-1995)

Eric Kresser was a part of three consecutive SEC Championships as a Gator. The only issue was that he did not lead Florida to any of those conference titles.

Kresser was dealt very poor cards as he attended Florida at the same time as Gator legend Danny Wuerffel. With Wuerffel starting immediately as a true freshman, Kresser’s only chance to make an impact would be in blowout games as a backup.

In three seasons as a Gator, Kresser completed 93 of 160 passes for 1,572 yards and 18 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Being a year older than a much more talented Wuerffel, Kresser decided to transfer his senior year so he could actually start.

He ended up at Marshall and formed a terrific tag-team with wide receiver Randy Moss. At this time, Marshall was a D1-AA school and Kresser tore up the competition as he led the Thundering Herd to a 15-0 record and a National Championship.

He totaled 31 touchdowns and over 3,400 yards in his lone season there.

Kresser would go undrafted in 1997 and would be picked up by the Cincinatti Bengals. He played just two seasons in Cincy before pursuing very short stints in Europe and Canada.

Even though Kresser finally got his recognition and National Championship, Florida got theirs as well.

Right after Kresser transferred, the Gators went 12-1 and smacked FSU for the first-ever National Championship in school history.
