No. 5 Jon Bostic (2010-2012)

Jon Bostic was a cornerstone in Florida’s shutdown defense during the 11-2 season of 2012.

In a three-year Gator career under coaches Urban Meyer and Will Muschamp, Bostic notched 219 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, five interceptions (one for a touchdown), 11 pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

Bostic played in a bowl game in each of his three seasons and was a part of victories in the 2011 Outback Bowl and 2012 Gator Bowl.

In the 2013 Sugar Bowl loss to Louisville, his six tackles were the second most among Gator players. Bostic’s signature moment at Florida came in the Sugar Bowl when he put a bone-crushing hit on Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Bostic would be penalized for the hit, but in my opinion it was totally clean.

Bostic’s only collegiate award came his junior season when he was named a second-team All-SEC selection in 2012.

After a deflating Sugar Bowl loss, Bostic declared for the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Chicago Bears would draft him 50th overall in the second round and currently he is preparing for his third season with the team. In two NFL seasons, he has 141 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and four pass deflections.
