#2 Errict Rhett (1989-1993)

Before Fred Taylor, Errict Rhett ran the show at the University of Florida. He scored 34 touchdowns in his four-year career and has the most rushing yards on this list with 4,163.

In a fog-clouded Gator Bowl in 1992, Rhett led the Gators to victory. During his senior year, he capped off his Gator career with a three touchdown performance in the 1994 Sugar Bowl. Rhett’s Sugar Bowl performance would be enough to earn him the game’s MVP honors.

Behind Rhett, the Gators posted a 10-2 record in 1991 and an 11-2 record in 1993. He was most productive during his sophomore and senior years while declining a tad during his junior year. His efforts as a whole would not go unnoticed as Rhett was able to claim a few honors during his time at Florida. His awards include:

  • SEC Champion in 1991 and 1993
  • First Team All-SEC in 1991 and 1993
  • First Team All-American in 1993
  • UF Hall of Fame inductee in 2006

Rhett is the only player on this list to not be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. He just barley missed the cut as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted him 34th overall in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft. Rhett only played in the NFL for six years and ended his career as a Cleveland Brown in 2000.
