Goshdarnit, I’ve gone looking through these aesthetics of the Georgia athletics program and I know I hate the Bulldogs on the playing field, but I respect the hell out of them and their program. They’ve done a lot of things right, from traditions to colors, and even mascots. You have no idea how much it pains me to say this, given I think they’re Florida’s biggest rival. But I think a lot of this respect might come from the fact that they’ve been in the SEC since the start with Florida. And even before that, the Gators and Dawgs competed in the Southern and SIAA making the UF-UGA rivalry one of the oldest Florida has. They’ve met every year on the football field since 1915 and have played in Jacksonville since 1933, save a home-and-home in the mid-90s. Who would have thought a former Bulldog would one day be head coach of the Gators, or vice versa? Don’t get me started on conspiracy theorists who think Will Muschamp is intentionally losing to Georgia (see three straight series wins).

Though their nickname may be jaded, their logo stolen, and mascots and traditions hatched because of their bitter rival Florida, Georgia still has a lot going for them. Their color scheme, uniforms, and mascots are all at the top of collegiate athletics and their traditions have survived the test of time. UGA’s a school with a long, rich history that will continue to be one of UF’s biggest rivals on and off the playing field. I guess there’s only one (reluctant) thing to say: How bout them Dawgs?

Our Georgia affliliate on the FanSided network Dawn of the Dawg will be breaking down all things Florida Gators, but from the Dawgs perspective.
