VOTE: Which Florida Gators Logo is Your Favorite?

It seemed like a pretty good idea so we decided to ask our readers the same question. It's something every Gators fan has an opinion about and, depending on when you started following Florida, should vary greatly.rnrnThrough this post, we'll take a look at Florida's primary and secondary logos through the years. They include some iconic logos everybody can recognize, to some only Gators fans might know. We'll also take a look at how some of the logos have changed through the years.rnrnAs of August 2013, Florida ranked the seventh highest grossing university when it comes to merchandise sales. Having a unique logo contributes to that kind of success, as does success on the fields of play. One thing is known, however: Having a unique nickname like the Gators creates a rare look for Florida.rnrnSo peruse your way through each logo. Analyze logos you know and inspect ones you don't. Then, vote in our poll to see if other Florida fan's favorites are your own. If there's something particularly striking about a particular logo, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section, on Facebook , or Twitter .rnrn[h/t SportsLogos.net for images]rnrn rnrn rnrn Gator Head: The first logo we'll take a look at is the current one that adorns pretty much all Florida merchandise and stadiums. The Gator head logo has gone through a small transformation since its inception in 1995. The neck is now the same color as the rest of the body and the lines dividing the neck go straight through. These changes may have buffed up the logo a little bit, but the idea behind it is the same.rnrnFlorida recently decided to change the branding on Florida Field by putting the Gator head logo at center of it. After two years of looking at the logo at midfield, I've decided that it doesn't much matter. In the beginning, I would have to say I was against it. You see, I'm a traditionalist of sorts and I very much like the block "F" painted on the field. But the Gator head has kind of grown on me.rnrn rnrn Standing Albert: Possibly the most beloved Gators logo of all-time, the standing Albert has made somewhat of a comeback in recent years. More and more fans like the throwback style and that's something the original standing Albert exemplifies perfectly. The classic standing Albert became an alternate logo for Florida in 1992 and is still used (somewhat) today. Although you won't find this particular logo on any of the Gators' jerseys, you'll still be able to buy some merchandise with this time-honored emblem.rnrn rnrn rnrn Script Gators: This logo has become synonymous with Florida football and for good reason. Since 1979, one form or another of the script Gators has been on the UF football helmets. The soccer team has also adopted the script Gators as the logo they wear across their chest. This logo can be seen across numerous merchandise items and has a classic air about it that speaks to the traditionalist.rnrn rnrn rnrn Block Letters: Florida recently rebranded the entire football stadium with these block letters, but this logo has actually been around since 1998. This font may be most recognizable thanks to the Gators' basketball jerseys. Along with the Gator head at midfield, UF changed the endzone, "THIS IS...THE SWAMP", "THIS IS...GATOR COUNTRY", and the national champions writing inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to this. Since then, it's the primary way you'll see anything written out on any of the uniforms, besides soccer, and venues.rnrn Update: Thanks to the Rowdy Reptiles Vice President, Jonathan Arnholz , we have the new letters Florida changed to recently. Even though the colors might be a little off, you can see the subtle differences (old on top, new on bottom).rnrn rnrn rnrn Modern F: There "F" logo has kind of taken off in recent years. It came into existence with the new block letters and has been a mainstay on hats and more recently, on the football field . The baseball team has worn this logo on their hats and baseball helmets for the past couple of years and this particular logo goes hand-in-hand with the Gators on the diamond. You may notice it looks a lot like the block letters on the previous page.rnrn rnrn rnrn Block F: The block "F" is another throwback and something that has been in existence at UF since 1992. An "F" that looks a lot like this was Florida's primary logo in the years before 1967. This logo was also on the 50-yard line before 2012. The font was what was all over the walls and end zones at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Although it's incredibly simple, this logo remains one of my personal favorites. You don't see much merchandise any more that just has this block "F" on it.rnrn rnrn rnrn Interlocking UF: Florida's baseball team used to have this on their hats instead of the modern "F". This version of the interlocking UF also came into existence in 1992. However, the Gators used to have an interlocking UF on their football helmets from 1969-1979. Those uniforms pretty atrocious, as was the play on the field for Florida. But there's something about the simplicity of this logo on a hat that I really like.rnrn rnrn rnrn New Standing Albert: In 2003, Albert got a new, meaner look. This Albert features claws, more textured skin, a lighter underside, and the combination of two of the other logos. Albert's head looks a lot like the Gator head logo that we primarily see today and the "F" on his sweater has been changed from the block "F" to the modern "F". This was all part of Florida's rebranding to a more fierce mascot, instead of the more friendly, classic Albert.rnrn rnrn rnrn Circular UF with Alligator and Shape of Florida: I don't really know how to describe this logo, but it remains in my top two. There's something about the logo that combines everything we love about UF. It has our initials, the state of Florida, and an alligator all wrapped up into a nice neat logo.
