The coaching staff hit the ground running this week visiting every committed recruit and many more uncommitted from the 2013 class and 2014 as well.

Marcel Harris announces in the morning around 10:30 am eastern at his school. The latest word on this recruitment is that he had concern about depth and playing time at UF and there was a good chance he might pull the trigger for FSU. With Stoops leaving that likely rules FSU out at this point. With his dad having played at UF there’s some talk that he wanted to go elsewhere to forge his own path but at this point the smart money is on UF.

Mammoth junior college offensive tackle Trenton Brown has finished his official visits after visiting Oklahoma over the weekend. He has set an announcement date of December 19th and still says Florida leads for his services. This one looks to be a slam dunk for the Gators and with that the Gators will likely be done recruiting offensive lineman in this cycle.

Defensive end/Buck linebacker Ebenezer Ogundeko from New York has narrowed his choice down to the Gators and Clemson.  The Gator coaching staff is expected to take their in-home visit on Friday from all indications. This one is a toss-up at this point.

A couple of names that have popped up recently on twitter that are starting to look harder at the Gators are 5 star running back Alex Collins who recently de-committed from the Hurricanes and defensive tackle Jaynard Bostwick who is currently uncommitted.

Collins popped up out of nowhere on the recruiting landscape to become the top back in Florida this season according to some recruiting services.  That says a lot considering Kelvin Taylor and the new leading career rusher in high school football, Alabama commit Derrick Henry, are both in this class.  Things have started to heat up between him and UF and he has decided to take an official visit to Gainesville in mid December.  With two top flight backs already committed it’s unsure if they will be able to land a third but it’s obvious that they would like to.

Bostwick is considering a ton of schools and has favored Miami but with likely probation hanging over their head kids are starting to get a little gun shy on them.  Bostwick’s sticking point right now apparently is grades or test scores. Their is some doubt if he will qualify academically and Florida won’t even let you visit unless your academics are in order.  This is another one that could happen but is not likely at this point.

The staff has been all over the map this week visiting the remaining guys on their board including star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, a USC commitment,  and  Demarcus Walker from Jacksonville who is currently committed to Alabama.  Quinn visited him yesterday at his school according to reports.  Apparently Quinn paid a visit to defensive lineman and LSU commit Greg Gilmore who came close to choosing the Gators and apparently will continue to be recruited by this staff.  The staff mad an in-home visit today with top running back commit Kelvin Taylor, son of Gator legend Fred Taylor.  I’d be interested to know if they just talked about things in general or if the staff was trying to convince him the value of bringing in a third running back. Stay tuned.

One of the committed recruits that is starting to seriously waver is Quinton Powell.  The linebacker from Daytona Beach Mainland high school was a camp superstar over the summer and his recruitment blew up after committing to the Gators.  Recently he’s been looking around and right now appears to be strongly considering USC where his good buddy Leonard Williams is a freshman this season.

The play of the defense and the emphasis on the running game are starting to make more and more recruits take notice of the Gators and I think you will likely see a few more names pop up between now and signing day and possibly see some recruits flip to the Gators who are currently committed to other programs.

Stay tuned to HailFloridaHail on Twitter for tomorrow’s announcement from Marcel Harris and all week as information continues to pop up concerning the staff and recruits.
