Fastest College Football Players
Thank to Vanilla Bear for forwarding this article.
According to CBS Sports, LSU multi-purpose back Trindon Holliday is the fastest player in the history of college football. Let me clarify this. According to this article, in a sanctioned track event, no person who is also a member of a college football team at the time, has ever been faster than the 10.02 Holliday ran at the 2007 NCAA Track and Field Championships.
That could be true – Holliday is a burner – but to me the rest of the list seems suspect. Not the times posted or the individuals who ran them, but the range of times of the supposed top 10 ever. From Holliday’s 10.02 to Rocket Ismail’s 10.34 (#10 on the list), the range seems too big to incorporate every football/track athlete ever. Case in point: former Gator Bo Carroll ran a 10.17 at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Championships, but he doesn’t appear on the list.
Kudos (not the candy bar) to future Gator Jeffrey Demps. Demps comes in at 5th on the list with a time he ran in high school. I have to believe he can improve that in college.
