The losses to the Georgia Bulldogs continue. New coaches, some new players, and new promises of a changed culture yield the same result. The Bulldogs' mastery of the Florida Gators has reached six straight and this one was as demoralizing as any of them.
Florida didn't look competitive on offense. The Gators played scared and coached scared on that side of the ball. Aaron Philo got the start at quarterback and didn't last a quarter. It was a total disaster.
Here are the winners and losers from Florida's 27-8 loss to Georgia:
Losers: Turnovers killed Florida dead in Atlanta
You can't make that decision, Aaron Philo. What are you thinking? And that wasn't even the worst turnover of the game. That was Tramell Jones' fumble at the end of the half that turned a likely 17-7 or 17-3 deficit into 24-0 at the break. Florida had to win the turnover battle to really have a chance to knock off Georgia, but it couldn't go minus-3. All the turnovers led to points, and it took away from a defense that was up for the challenge.

Losers: Two quarterbacks might equal zero quarterbacks
It's easy to put the blame on the quarterbacks, and I don't think they were put in a position to succeed by the coaching staff. But both Philo and Jones have the kind of weaknesses that make you wonder if the Gators actually have their QB of 2027 on the roster. Jones has very good physical talent, but he's young, and Buster Faulkner's play calling seems to reflect a lack of confidence in him.
Philo knows what to do at the line of scrimmage, but he just doesn't throw the ball well. Short stuff, long stuff, it's all wobbly, and the accuracy isn't there. The arm strength was never there. I expect we'll see more QB competition during the week, or at least we should.
Losers: The Florida offensive line got wrecked by that Bulldogs D
Look, we knew that Georgia's defense was not one to be toyed with. They have dudes on top of dudes all over that unit. But the Gators had to at least meet them with toughness up front, and they didn't. The Bulldogs absolutely overwhelmed them in the run game. Jadan Baugh had 38 yards on 17 carries, and the team as a whole averaged less than two yards per carry.
Winnesr: The Gators defense came to play
The unit eventually wore down and gave up some rushing yards, but all in all, Florida's defense was good. They kept Gunner Stockton uncomfortable and forced some mistakes. Could the group have caused some more negative plays? Sure, but they did enough to keep the game closer than it probably should've been.
Winners: Bailey Stockton is tough as nails
Stockton has been battling a ton of injuries most of the season, and he continues to show up and give everything he's got. The eight catches and 76 yards didn't result in a win, but the Gator fanbase appreciates his efforts.

"He's tough as hell, dude. We need to recruit more guys like that ... He didn't run all week ... But he just understood the assignment, like if I can go, I've got to go now."
There might be some question marks about which players on offense came to play, but Stockton has earned his stripes today and all season.
