The SEC announced the coaches picks for preseason All-SEC, and the Florida Gators put seven players on the list. BUCK LB Dante Fowler Jr. and CB Vernon Hargreaves III continued their preseason accolades as they led the way with First Team Defense honors.
Offensive lineman Chaz Green was the only Gator to be named to the All-SEC second team and four other players made the third team. OL D.J. Humphries and RB Matt Jones led the way for Florida on offense, while LB Antonio Morrison was named on defense. Sixth-year senior Andre Debose was named third team All-SEC as a return specialist.
The coaches nod for preseason All-SEC is just the latest list Fowler and Hargreaves have graced. Fowler was named to the Bednarik Award and Bronco Nagurski Trophy Watch List and Hargreaves is on five watch lists, including the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and All-American teams across many publications.
Green is looking to rebound after missing the 2013 season with a torn labrum. He was a Freshman All-American and All-SEC in his first season in Gainesville. Humphries, Jones, Morrison, and Debose are also returning from various injuries that forced them to miss time or the entire season.
Coaches were not able to vote for their own players.
Let’s just hope these players can stay healthy and finish the season as an All-SEC member.
