Q & A with Florida Gators OL Commit Tyler Jordan

facebooktwitterreddit

Center prospect Tyler Jordan is the longest tenured commitment of the Florida Gators 2015 recruiting class and has been actively recruiting other top-tier players to join the cause. He’s a consensus top-10 center and a member of the ESPN300. Jordan will fill a position of need for Florida the minute he signs. The Gators have had all sorts of depth issues along the offensive line and, in particular, at the center position. Although he’s a top player in this year’s recruiting cycle, his most important contribution for the Gators may be his ace recruiting. Everybody wants to play for a winner and Jordan is doing his part to ensure Florida’s success.

Jordan was nice enough to answer some of our questions and some of his answers might surprise you. He’s expecting big things out of Gainesville this season as Florida tries to rebound from an off 2013.

Hail Florida Hail:  You committed on February 24th of this year. What about Florida made you want to pledge so early in the process?
Tyler Jordan: When I was there on my visit, I felt at home and I felt like I fit in well with the players and the coaches.

HFH:  You were technically the third commitment of the 2015 class, but the first two have decided to open up their recruitment. How does it feel to be the longest committed Gator?
TJ: It feels great because it shows how loyal I am to Florida.

HFH: How does it feel to be a consensus top-10 player at your position and a member of the ESPN300?
TJ: It’s a great honor that people see me that way.

HFH: What are some goals you have for your senior season at Bishop Kenny?
TJ: To make it as far as we can in the playoffs after we win Districts.

HFH: What will you miss the most about high school?
TJ: Being with my friends on the field and having that Friday night feeling on game day.

HFH: What goals do you have for your future at Florida?
TJ: To start early and be able to do as well as I can and graduate on time.

HFH: What are you looking forward to the most at college?
TJ: Playing under the lights in front of 90 thousand.

HFH: Do you plan on coming to any games this fall? Which ones?
TJ: Every home game.

HFH: You’ve been the Gators best recruiter on twitter. What compels you to reach out to other top prospects?
TJ: To get a great team, you need to get great players.

HFH: How did you come up with your #GreatWallOfFlorida tagline and how has the response been?
TJ: Haha. To be honest, a fan on twitter hashtagged it and tagged me in it and I have been using it since.

HFH: Who currently on the Gators roster are you most excited to play with?
TJ: My former high school teammate [at Bishop Kenny] Ahmad Fulwood.

HFH: Which commitment so far are you most excited to play with?
TJ: My man George Brown.

HFH: Who’s at the top of your wishlist to sign with Florida come National Signing Day?
TJMartez Ivey.

HFH: Who do you look up to and who do you model your playing style after?
TJ: I model my game after any lineman that is aggressive, nasty, and has good technique.

HFH: How does the uncertainty of the upcoming season and Coach Muschamp make you feel?
TJ: I’m not worried about it at all. I think that they are on the right track and have the team in place. I am very confident.

HFH: Prediction for season?
TJ: I honestly think that they could have a 10 win season. It all depends on how many points the offense puts up.

Jordan’s certainly a confident football player, recruiter extraordinaire, and a welcome addition to the Gator Nation. Good luck to Tyler and Bishop Kenny on the upcoming season and keep an eye out for him on game days in The Swamp.
