The Florida Gators recently landed a player that has everyone buzzing. A four-star, dual-threat quarterback out of Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, Sheriron Jones decided earlier this month that The Swamp is where he wants to be. It’s quite possible that Jones could be one of the biggest pickups for the Gators so far this offseason.
According to 247 Sports composite rankings, the 6-2.5, 192 pounder ranks as the seventh-best dual-threat QB, California’s 26th-best, and 187th overall. Jones chose Florida over Tennessee, Nebraska, Arizona, and plenty of others who offered. His choice to become a Gator was fueled by the fact that he felt right at home in Gainesville. He loved offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and head coach Will Muschamp, The Swamp itself, and also during his visit to Florida he even stated the Gators felt just like family.
Adding Jones to the roster, Florida is nine deep with commitments for the 2015 class. With Jeff Driskel, Will Grier, Skyler Mornhinweg, Treon Harris, and now Sheriron Jones there, the Gators are now fully stacked at the quarterback position. It’s a little too early to tell how much of an impact Jones will have on Florida’s offense, but with his strong arm and accuracy from the pocket, as well as on the run, not too many are doubting that he will do great things when his time comes at Florida.
Here’s a teaser of what Jones can do. Hopefully it will satisfy your want to see him, since he won’t be in a Gators uniform until the 2015 season:
