Wide Receiver Chris Thompson is an example of homegrown talent in the state of Florida. Being from Gainesville, attending Gainesville High, and now playing for the University of Florida, Thompson shows that the Gators have success beyond just recruiting outside of Florida.
As a Freshman Chris didn’t see a ton of playing time, but he got his shot late in the year and hopes to build on that momentum this season. His only start came in the final contest of the year against FSU, and prior to that he played as a backup. His caught two passes for 13 yards, both against Vandy.
In addition to his receiving duties Chris also contributed on special teams, seeing action on the punt blocking unit. On top of what Thompson did on the field on Saturdays, he was a big part of the preparation throughout the week. For his effort he was awarded the Most Valuable Special Teams Scout Team Award.
In just 85 days Chris Thompson will be back on the field, catching passes and hopefully blocking punts for the Orange and Blue.
