Billy Donovan‘s transfer list of those coming into the Florida Gators’ basketball could theoretically be an all-star team. Former South Florida center John Egbunu has decided to play basketball at Florida after playing his freshman season for the Bulls. CBSSports Jon Rothstein was the first to break the news. Egbunu chose Florida over Michigan State and Virginia Tech
Egbunu measures in at 6’10” and 245 lbs and becomes the latest on a list of transfers for Donovan and the Gators. Egbunu joins Virginia Tech transfer Dorian Finney-Smith, Duke transfer Alex Murphy, Michigan transfer Jon Horford, and Georgetown transfer Vernon Macklin on a list of players to choose Florida over the past couple of years. Damontre Harris, who transferred from South Carolina, might also be adding to that list soon. Egbunu will have three years of eligibility left when he’s available for the 2015-16 season.
At USF, Egbunu averaged 7.4 ppg and 6.2 rpg along with 1.3 blocks per game. He’ll provide an inside presence for the team when he’s eligible to take the court. He joins Kevarrius Hayes and KeVaughn Allen in the 2015 recruiting class.
