Arkansas Razorbacks Softball. The fifth-ranked Gators head to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks in the last series of the regular season. Florida currently sits in fifth place in the SEC, but could move as far up as second. They’ll need to continue winning because the top six seeds in the SEC Tournament get a first round bye. That shouldn’t be a problem for the Gators. They face a Razorback team that’s ranked 72nd in RPI. For comparison, Florida’s ranked first. They also have an all-time record against Arkansas of 38-10, including 18 straight in the series, and 13 consecutive in Fayetteville. First pitch is Friday at 7 pm.
Muschamp Visits Broward County. Football head coach Will Muschamp continued his tour of Gator Clubs when he visited the Broward County Gator Club Thursday night at War Memorial Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale. He firmly took sole responsibility for the disappointing 2013 season. Former Gators now Dolphins Mike Pouncey, Jelani Jenkins, and Caleb Sturgis were on hand to support Muschamp. He also talked about the impact current Gators from South Florida have and will have on the field. (Steve Gorten, Sun Sentinel)
Baseball’s Critical Weekend Series. Florida heads to Alabama this weekend for a three game series on the baseball diamond and the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Gators currently have a two game lead over the Crimson Tide for first place in the SEC. With a series win, Florida could put themselves in great position to win the SEC regular season title and gain a national seed for the NCAA Tournament. First pitch is slated for 7:35 pm on CSS.
Lacrosse to Face John’s Hopkins in Semifinals. After receiving a first round bye in the ALC Tournament, Florida will face John’s Hopkins in the semifinal round. The five-seed Blue Jays beat four-seed Penn State 13-10 Thursday in first round action. The Gators faced the Blue Jays earlier this season and won 10-9 in Baltimore. Friday’s game will start at 5:30 EST, 4:30 local time. On another note, Florida finally got to hoist the regular season championship trophy:
