Football Recruiting: 2015 Speedster Jalen Julius Picks Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up possibly one of the fastest recruits in the 2015 recruiting class when Jalen Julius committed to UF Wednesday. Scout‘s Amy Campbell broke the news:

Julius later went to Twitter to confirm it:

Julius is a 5’11”, 173 pound athlete who projects as either a cornerback or running back at the next level. Defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson should have some fun with him. With Julius’ lightning fast speed, he could also be used for punt and kick return situations. According to 247 Sports Composite Rating, Julius is a three-star prospect and ranked the No. 38 cornerback in the 2015 class.

He fits the mold with what Florida seems to be doing with this recruiting class. Julius is the seventh commitment of the 2015 class and most of them are not highly rated, but have tons of upside. With his blazing speed and 4.31 40-yard dash, yet ESPN doesn’t even have him in their recruiting database, Julius fits right in.

And as Alligator Army puts it, he may be able to get highly rated 2015 running back Dexter Williams to flip to Florida despite his recent commitment to Miami. Williams is transferring to West Orange High School this fall and he’ll get a chance to play with Julius. These two are obviously close friends:
