The fifth-ranked Florida Gators hosted the Bulls of South Florida in a blowout win on Wednesday night.
The Bulls struck first blood with a first-inning homer off of Hannah Rogers (21-6), but the Gators responded in the home half with two runs, followed by a ridiculous 11-run frame in the second.
UF’s offense collected 15 hits en route to their 17 runs, and posted home runs from Kirsti Merrit and Bailey Castro. The Gators were aggressive on the base paths, getting steals from Kelsey Stewart and Stephanie Tofft. Florida also found ways to get on base besides their bats, having two hit by pitches and drawing five walks.
Merritt led all players with five RBI, and along with Stewart led all batters with three hits. All nine starters recorded at least one hit and one run in the game.
Senior 3rd baseman Stephanie Tofft received two individual honors this week, as she was named both the SEC and National Player of the Week.
The Gators (41-8, 11-7) return to action at 6:00 Friday against the Missouri Tigers.
