It was a tough week for former Florida Gators playing in the MLB. David Ross showed some power, hitting his first home run of the season for the Boston Red Sox. Here’s how the nine players on MLB 40-man rosters did:
LHP Kevin Chapman (2007, 2009-2010), Houston Astros
Chapman faced one batter this past week and he walked him. On the season, he has a 12.27 ERA in 3 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.
OF Matt den Dekker (2007-2010), New York Mets
The Mets currently have den Dekker on their 40-man roster, but has yet to see action on the 25-man active roster.
INF Mark Ellis (1996-1999), St. Louis Cardinals
Ellis returned to the big leagues and has played in five games this past week. He batted .167 with two hits, two walks, and three RBI as he works his way back to being a healthy second baseman for the Cardinals.
LHP Nick Maronde (2009-2011), Los Angeles Angels
Maronde did not pitch this week. For the season, he’s posting a 3.00 ERA with five strikeouts in three innings.
RHP Darren O’Day (2003-2006), Baltimore Orioles
O’Day pitched in three games this past week for the O’s, all against the Boston Red Sox. He pitched two innings over those three games, giving up one run on three hits with one walk. He gave up his first run of the season and now has a 1.29 ERA.
INF Ryan Raburn (2000), Cleveland Indians
Raburn went hitless in seven at bats this week. He played in only two games.
LHP Steven “Paco” Rodriguez (2010-2012), Los Angeles Dodgers
Paco was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque last Tuesday and continues to be on the 40-man roster.
C David Ross (1998), Boston Red Sox
In three games this past week, Ross got his first home run. He hit .250 with two hits, one double, two runs, two walks, and two RBI.
C Mike Zunino (2010-2012), Seattle Mariners
Zunino had a decent week with three doubles in five hits. He also walked once, scored a run, and drove a man in while hitting .278. On the season, Zunino is hitting .281 with three homers and five RBIs.
