Florida scored early and often in a home run -laden game against the Aggies. The first of the homers came in the first from Kirsti Merrit, who also brought home Kelsey Stewart after her leadoff single.
Taylore Fuller was the next to go yard in the second. Fuller’s was a three-run shot that plated Taylor Schwarz (hit by pitch) and Brianna Little (single). With a 5-0 lead the Gators continued in the inning with runs from Stewart and Kathlyn Medina off of Stephanie Tofft’s double; minutes later, Tofft scored on an A&M error.
Lauren Haeger also scored in the second inning, extending the lead to 9-0, and then, with the bases loaded, Kathlyn Medina cleared the bases with a Grand Slam.
All four of the Aggies’ runs came from homers. The first of their three was a two-run blast in the third, which cut the damage to 13-2.
UF went back to work on the fourth, with Tofft drilling a three-run homer. Lauren Haeger left the building in the fourth for the final Florida run.
Delanie Gourley (13-1) earned the win, with Haeger closing the game out on run rules.
Florida (39-8, 10-7) will look to complete the sweep at 1:00 on Sunday.
