Florida Gators Football Picks Up Highest Rated Prospect to Date, DB Marcus Lewis for 2015 Recruiting Class

The Florida Gators picked up their highest rated recruit of the 2015 class so far with the commitment of defensive back Marcus Lewis. Lewis is a four-star prospect by most of the recruiting services. Lewis also becomes the first out-of-state commitment to Florida, kind of. He hails from the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area, also known as the DMV, but will transfer to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL for the upcoming season. Lewis took to Twitter to affirm his commitment to UF:

Lewis is a 6’1″, 180 pound defensive back that will look to contribute to Florida’s No Fly Zone. According to 247 Sports composite rankings, he is the twelfth ranked athlete in the class of 2015. His size could mean he will play safety for Florida, but recruiting services have him listed as cornerback or wide receiver. Lewis is also a solid tackler and has great anticipation for the ball.

Lewis, from Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C.,  represents a recent cornerback pipeline from the DMV area to Florida. He joins Gator great Joe Haden and freshman Jalen Tabor. Haden was quick to congratulate his DMV to Florida comrade on Twitter.

Lewis is the sixth recruit to join the 2015 class and the second defensive back.
